The APS Group has ISO 14001 accreditation and is one of the UK's 'greenest printers'
In recent years, APS Group has continued to grow at a substantial rate, winning significant new business, employing more staff and investing in new plant and technology - inevitably making more demands on energy consumption.
Since gaining ISO 14001 accreditation in 2006, Managing Director, Nick Snelson, has taken personal responsibility for maintaining the Group’s environmental management, to ensure that the growth of the business is not achieved at the expense of the environment.
Throughout last year we managed to reduce our carbon emissions per 100,000 sheets printed by 5.86% which equates to 59.14 tons. Other significant improvements in 2007 were efficiency gains of 6.05% on electricity; 7.17% on water; 8.4% on petrol /diesel and 32.3% on waste sent to landfill.
Priority objectives for 2008
- A 5% efficiency improvement on electricity, gas, water, petrol, diesel, solvent usage and waste sent to landfill
- To gain FSC and PEFC accreditation by 31 December 2008
- To have an accurate calculation of our full carbon footprint by 30 September 2008
- To complete an evaluation of potential carbon-offsetting strategies by 31 October 2008
